We often get asked if our classes are suitable for those over 60 ( or over 70 or 80).
The answer is yes these classes are suitable for people who are older:
Over 60’s Pilates
Pilates exercise are low impact
The exercises are graded - so if it is a long time since you exercised you can start off at a low level and then gradually build up.
Pilates can help strengthen muscles and improve balance which can lead to improved ability to do everyday activities and can also help to ease aches, pains and stiffness.
We have many people in our classes who are in their 60s, 70s and 80’s in our classes, so you won’t feel out of place.
If you are looking for a gentler class then either our Monday 12 noon or Thursday 12 noon classes as these are run at a lower level. Similarly our Thursday 4.30pm class is usually one of our quietest classes and can be a good class to choose if you are feeling nervous about starting Pilates.
However you would be welcome to attend any of our classes as all our instructors are experienced Physiotherapists who can tailor the exercises to suit your level and ability.
